Big Business Writing Our Laws for Them

My opponent Tiffany Esposito has co-sponsored a bill that was written by conservative, billionaire-backed think tank, Foundation for Government Accountability. The bill, HB433, erases wage, benefit, and job-safety protections. The Foundation for Government Accountability is also pushing bills to weaken child labor laws and the unemployment system in Florida.

The language for the bill was given to Esposito by a lobbyist for the Florida Chamber of Commerce, a proponent of big business. It prohibits political subdivisions from maintaining minimum wage other than state or federal minimum wage. It preempts regulation of terms and conditions of employment and regulation of heat exposure requirements.

These authoritarian actions brought on by Esposito and her Republican colleagues shows that the state controlling party has no respect for the working class people. Sadly, this comes at a time when there is a high demand for affordable housing and the cost of healthcare is at all-time high. Property insurance rates have doubled and homeowners are now considering selling their homes because they can no longer afford to live in Florida. Not to mention there are not enough mental health professionals to take care of the people in our state.

This is the year that we the people can stand up and reject the the strong arm of this controlling party we can speak out with our voice and use our votes to reject the status quo. Let's remind them that local voices makes local choices. Make sure your voter information is up to date.

If you’re not at the table,  you are on the menu.

The Working class peoples deserve a seat at the table.
